From a Facebook post by Peter Malpas, that was swiftly deleted in the Chorley Life Facebook Group:
Last night, by 1.30 am in Chorley centre, all my neighbours were all tucked up in bed at peace with the world with all their windows wide open.
Then arrived three highway vehicles with their flashing orange lights, and then it all began.
Cutting noises, and after a while the compactor over a full fifteen minutes or so.
Just WHAT was the point? A few cobble stones had become exposed.
And then when I looked at what they'd done this morning didn't even match the previously marked out area. Some might suggest thank goodness - they'd have been here two hours making a row!
So my questions:
- Why MINOR works like this in the early hours in a residential area?
- Where else did the highway gang go after my road to disturb the peace?
- And what was the cost to taxpayers for this example of unnecasary overnight working, that from Lancashire Highways markings might need another visit?
Just look at the picture at what they were sent to deal with - at 1.30 am? We're not main A road, just a residential side road.
