Polling Day for Lancashire's first Police and Crime Commissioner

It's polling day and it is your very first opportunity to choose someone who is accountable to you and your neighbours.

Previously the Lancashire Police Authority took that role.  Nobody could name the chairman, 9 councillors were appointed by their political leaders, and 8 independent members selected and placed by another body, and you had no say in their appointment.  Together last year they cost the taxpayer £280,000 in member allowances and expenses.

The Police and Crime Commissioner role strips all that away and gives the all the people of Lancashire the same accountable person to speak for us all.

Our candidate is Tim Ashton.  You can visit his web here.
