Extra funding announced by County Council for permanent pothole repairs and new road surfaces
Conservatives at Lancashire County Council have announced an extra £5m of investment in the County's roads, to fill more potholes and make it easier to get from A to B. A particularly wet winter took its toll on roads here in Lancashire and across the country, with reports of potholes on the rise across Lancashire.
In response, Council bosses approved an extra £5m of investment on top of the £51m approved earlier this year: resurfacing more roads and repairing potholes for good.
This extra money will fund a new 'responsive patching' method - meaning that on roads with multiple potholes, larger areas can be fixed permanently increasing the longevity of repairs and ensuring roads stay smoother for longer - a key priority for Lancashire residents.
The funding announced will also see more residents across Lancashire with brand new roads, completely pothole free, thanks to a further boost to resurfacing schemes. Leading councillors said that this extra investment was only possible thanks to healthy council finances after a difficult period coming out of the Covid pandemic and with war in Ukraine.
With highways budgets cut elsewhere in the country as Labour councils go bust, residents are being urged to give local Conservatives their backing to deliver smoother journeys for all.
