We all know the country has deep-rooted economic problems, and there is no easy or painless way out of the mess we inherited. But we are facing up to our responsibilities.
Thanks to the tough decisions we have taken, our economy is now healing. We have cut the deficit by a third since this Government took office. The private sector has created 1.25 million new jobs.
We are unlocking the aspirations of a nation, backing people who want to work hard and get on. We've got to do the hard work of making our country competitive again, so that Britain is able to pay its way in the world and compete in the global race.
