Become a councillor

We're always looking for talented local people interested in helping the community and becoming an elected Councillor on our local councils.

We're starting to select 8 candidates for Chorley's Lancashire County Council divisions with elections being held on 6 May 2021. Applicants can also apply for any other division across the County.

  • 18 or over one month before polling day?

Councillors can receive an allowance so that they are not disadvantaged through work commitments through the Chorley Council Member Allowance Scheme August 2017 and Lancashire County Council schemes.

The first step is to apply to join our approved list of candidates.

Once on our list, you will then be able to apply for each of our Council borough wards or County divisions as we advertise them.

Join Chorley Conservatives

Being a member of Chorley Conservatives means that you have joined the most open and democratic political party in Britain. After the first three months of your membership, you will be entitled to a vote in Party ballots. You will also have a chance to influence Party policy by letting us know your views.
